Meriden Pride Community Center

Rain? We don’t know her.

Last weekend, Meriden Pride joined the festivities at Middletown Pride. We marched in the parade alongside other local pride organizations, drag queens, and community organizations. We had a booth on the green (thanks to those who stopped by!) and enjoyed talking with everyone. For some of us, it was our first Pride event.

We were even briefly highlighted on NBC CT! Our very own committee member, Fae, appeared as the thumbnail image:

June shouldn’t be the only month we celebrate Pride. To extend the celebrations, Meriden Pride’s Pride Fest is on August 16. Mark your calendars!

Pride Month in Meriden

On Sunday, June 1, at 10:30 a.m., Meriden came together to celebrate the passing of a resolution to raise the Pride flag every June “until we don’t need it anymore.”

Founder and Chair of Meriden Pride, Branddon Arroyo, shared a few remarks. This is a snippet of his speech:

“We are not a town of hollow gestures. We are gardeners of justice, and this flag is our pledge to keep pulling weeds of prejudice wherever they take root. Together, we declare: Hate has no home here. Fear has no future here. Only love—fierce, unapologetic, and alive—will write our story. You belong.”
