Meriden Pride Community Center

🏳️‍⚧️Happy Trans Awareness Month! 🏳️‍⚧️

Our food pantry is officially open! We can’t thank our community enough for the generous donations to fill our shelves. Anyone is welcome to stop in during center hours, which will expand to 12-4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays starting Nov. 8.

Finally, remember to VOTE! Your voice matters, and voting is the best way to ensure your voice is heard.

We are stronger together.

Transgender Parent Day

On the first Sunday in November, we celebrate Transgender Parent Day, a special day dedicated to honoring transgender parents and caregivers. The day was first recognised around 2009 as a way to create a meaningful space beyond the traditional Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, holidays which often felt mismatched for trans parents and their families.

It serves both as a celebration of trans folks who parent and as an acknowledgement of the unique journeys of families with transgender children — highlighting how being a parent and embracing authentic identity intersect.

Resources for trans parents:

  • Family Equality — Offers a Trans Family Building guide and peer groups for LGBTQ+ parents navigating conception, adoption, and parenting. familyequality.org

  • Trans Families — An online community offering education, connection, and support for trans and nonbinary parents. transfamilies.org

  • Advocates for Trans Equality (A4TE) — Provides guidance on parental rights and legal name/gender changes for parents and children, and offers practical parenting tools and family-focused advocacy information. transequality.org

  • Lambda Legal — Shares legal resources on family recognition, parental rights, and transgender protections. lambdalegal.org

Visit (Or Donate To) Our Food Bank

The Meriden Pride Center Food Bank is open this weekend — Saturday from 12–3 PM and Sunday from 1–4 PM!

If you or someone you know could use a little extra help, please stop by and pick up some groceries — everyone is welcome. Please remember to bring a valid photo ID and your own bags. We’re here to make sure our community has what it needs.

If you would like to donate to the pantry, you are welcome to stop in during those same hours or donate financially online. We also need volunteers to help with distribution.
